Confession: I’m not entirely sure what this lipstick is called, exactly. All I know is, it has a long name and I’m pretty sure you could switch up the “limited edition”, “anniversary”, and “red door red” words and you’d still find it on Google. SEO nightmare, though.
This came out more than a few years ago. I won this in a giveaway. Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t have even heard of this lipstick. After all, I’m not exactly the target demographic for Elizabeth Arden.
I will say this, though: it’s definitely the classiest looking lipstick tube I own.
It practically oozes old school glamour, don’t you think?
This was released as part of their 100-year anniversary back in 2010. It’s named after their iconic Red Door entrance on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
The cap is embossed with their Red Door logo.
This lipstick is sheer, with tiny flecks of gold glitter. It’s more emollient than any of the other red lipsticks I own. You could probably get away with reapplying this without a mirror.
For me, this is a perfect day time red. It will disappear quickly if you eat or drink, though. The glitter particles also stick to the lips long after the color is gone.
I applied this over lip balm, and I had a bit of trouble getting it to go on evenly. Still, with enough lip smooshing, the color evens out . You could always blend it out with your finger for a more stained look, too.
While I don’t reach for this often, I do think it’s a lovely, fuss-free red that can be worn any day of the week, any time of day. I used it a lot during the holidays last year, actually. There’s just something about the red and the gold and the glitter! It’s Christmas! In August!
