Urban Decay eyeshadow Smokeout

I have a good number of pictures already edited and cropped, just sitting on my desktop. All I need to do is upload them and word dump about them a bit. Easier said than done, but here I am finally. So, let’s get to it!

Urban Decay eyeshadow Smokeout

Urban Decay describes Smokeout as “dark taupey-black.” I’m crap at coming up with accurate color descriptions on my own, so I say sure! Sounds about right! I think it’s a gorgeous not-black color, perfect for both everyday and sexier looks.

It has a beautiful satin finish, with just enough sheen to keep it from being completely flat and lifeless. I’ve been using this a lot to smudge out my pencil liner, and it makes quick work of a hazy, smoky eye. The color blends out so well and it ends up looking like I spent more time on my makeup than I actually did.

I swatched this on bare skin with a brush. You can see here that there is a bit of fallout upon application. To combat this, I push the pigment into the bristles against the inside of my wrist before applying.

I impulse bought this when Urban Decay was 15 or 20% off on Nordstrom. No regrets at all; I think it’s easily one of the best shadows that Urban Decay has, both formula and colorwise.

Note: if you sign up for Urban Decay’s Beauty Junkies loyalty program (personal invite link, feel free to avoid if you like :P), you get a free eyeshadow of your choice on your birthday. I ended up choosing Fireball, and bought this one later, but I rarely use Fireball and instead am having an intense love affair with Smokeout.

Although I said I’ve been using this color a lot, sadly I don’t have any FOTD pictures using it yet. I want to slowly ease back into posting more regularly. Thanks for sticking with me through my frequent periods of radio silence! For some reason my Facebook page has been getting a lot of likes, and I never use that platform. What would you guys like to see there?

Lastly, if triplexm from MUA is reading this, HI!! *waves*

Lately, 05.14.17

I didn’t realize that it’s been nearly a month since I’ve posted!

First things first: Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there! My mom and I had brunch yesterday, to avoid today’s inevitable crowds.

A little life update: I sent in my UK visa application last week, and it’s already been approved! It’s an EEA Family Permit (non-settlement), which means once I arrive in the UK, I have to start on the permanent resident visa. But at least we’re now one step closer!

Lastly, my obsession with Japanese makeup brushes just keeps growing… Expect a brush haul post and comparison pictures soon! With that said, I will leave you with my latest craving:

This is the Koyudo Somell Garden brush collection. I can’t read Japanese, but basically these brushes are inspired by fruit. Their wood handles were chosen to enhance the colors of the dyed bristles. From left to right: Peach x Keyaki blush brush, Orange x Hard Maple blush brush, Blueberry x Walnut highlighting brush, and the Lemon x Walnut face brush. All links go to CDJapan’s website. Each brush is under $35 USD, and I shamelessly want all of them. Because LOOK AT THEM. How freakin’ cute are they??

I shouldn’t, but I’ll probably end up buying all of them eventually. *__*
